As a misty twilight settles, you find that your wanderings have brought you to a quiet neighborhood in the southeastern quadrant of Athens. Making your way past a bubbling spring, you find yourself drawn to a cozy looking cedar-frame cottage whose window glows with a welcoming light. Gentle music flows through the cracked door.
"You can stand there all night, Stranger, or you can come and be sociable a while." The laughing voice brings you out of the spell you didn't even know you were in. As you step through the laurelwood door, a female chestnut-coated Centaur with shining blue-black hair steps forward to warmly embrace you.
"Welcome, Friend! I am Storyteller Anika, follower of Apollo, member of the Promethian Mentor Society, citizen of Athens. I'm not doing anything wonderfully exciting tonight...just some writing"--she motions toward some linen pillows covered with papers and parchments--"and practicing my instruments a bit...but I would be happy to chat for an hour or five." She gives you a playful wink before turning to straighten the pillows.
"Please, make yourself comfortable. You'll have to excuse the lack of a fire, but I couldn't bring myself to gather the wood." Anika crosses over to a jade-inlaid cedar table. "Some wine, perhaps? Or maybe some retsina?" Preferring fermented grapes over pine sap, you request the wine. Anika pours some into a silver goblet and passes it to you before helping herself to the retsina.
Once the two of you are settled, Anika's melodic voice begins to fill the air. "I wasn't born in Athens, but it has come to be my home and its citizens my family. Such is my world...."
